Alright so I was watching LCS just now and… this wild idea was born!
Katsuki (and his team)
He is a mid/bot main in the number one team in Japan (I’ll come up with a team name later)
His favourite is Jinx (lol) but he is amazing with most champions. Imagine something like Faker just angrier 😂
Pro IGN is Ground Zero, private one is Bakusatsuo
If you ever try to 1v1 him he will ANNIHILATE you
Hard carry
He wants to get his team to worlds - he just joined recently but he is dead set on becoming the next world champion
He is pretty popular in the Japanese league community - his game streams are always the most watched
He is also notorious for his bad mouth and terrible temper - he’s been one of the top players in their region for years but no one wanted to recruit him because of his bad reputation
He once broke his pc on stream
Aizawa (his team’s manager) was the one who had the guts to actually invite him to their team
Kirishima is jungle/top main with tanks and bruisers
Kaminari is support/jungle main with assassins, mages and bruisers
Inasa is top/support main with tanks and mages
Todoroki is bot/mid main with mages, assassins and adcs
Katsuki is generally mid unless he’s feeling off his game (which happens never) or if Todoroki really wants to play mid instead (which is also not common but it does happen)
Their sub is Sero who’s like a jack of all trades (master of none…)
Everyone can play every role - and they’re pretty good at them! - but the ones in bold are what they’re most comfortable with
Eventually they do make it to worlds (after winning the LJL summer playoffs)
Izuku
He just started working as a caster/analyst
He loves the game (and he is actually amazing at it) but he doesn’t have teammates he can play with and he definitely doesn’t have enough confidence to contact a team and go pro
So he settles for sitting at the analyst desk (and sometimes casting) instead bc game analysis is in his blood
He is a jungle/supp main with bruisers and tanks
He is a huuuge Ground Zero fan, even despite the guy’s terrible reputation
He still picks him apart with ease and notices the smallest mistake
He is super enthusiastic and people love listening to him (and love to tease him in the chat)
His fave champions are Vi and Camille
His IGN is Deku
His best friend is Uraraka who is the host for LJL
Fellow casters and analysts are: Present Mic, Mina, Shinsou, Monoma and Shindo
Present Mic is a veteran while Mina and Izuku have just joined the casting/analyst desk scene
The Plot
Katsuki first hears about Izuku when they go to Worlds and he rewatches the Play-Ins
He immediately hates him because of his stupid mumbling and his ability to pick him apart
He wouldn’t mind this that much if Izuku wasn’t an analyst
Katsuki hates analysts in general because they only talk big but they can’t play for shit
So he assumes that Izuku was spewing bs and just got lucky with his analysis
They don’t actually meet until after Worlds
Katsuki and his team don’t win this year but they do get to the semi-finals
Katsuki starts practicing even more, spending most of his time on his private account
He starts streaming a lot less bc he needs to actually concentrate and get better
He gets teamed up with Izuku once and they immediately hit it off - they have amazing synergy in game and they carry the rest of those losers (lol)
Katsuki invites him to duo
They both have no idea who the other is, they just use IGNs
A few months in they become great friends!
During esports events they both become scarce and neither of them actually notices bc they both become super busy
This continues for a while and then Inasa breaks his wrist (courtesy of Todoroki the hand crusher, pls don’t ask), so Katsuki has the bright idea of inviting Izuku to the team
Aizawa and their sponsor agree I guess
First meetings and shenanigans, revelations, fights and a lot of shouting
Katsuki in denial screaming at Izuku if he just makes one mistake (he is still sore about the fact that Izuku is an analyst)
He eventually warms up to Izuku and they become a damn great team
New setup: Katsuki mid, Izuku jungle, Kirishima top, Todoroki bot and Kaminari supp
Inasa’s wrist heals by the time they get to Worlds again so he plays like one game as Todoroki’s supp
Katsuki and Izuku keep practicing as a duo in their free time
People start calling them the Wonder Duo and there’s a lot of dodging going on because of that
They get very close and obviously they both develop strong feelings - they can only chat while waiting for a game
Awkward late night gamefests and just them being… in love and oblivious to each other’s feelings
They lose in the quarter-finals and they have a huge fight bc of that
They resolve it with the help of their friends thank god
They end up winning Worlds and Katsuki is so happy he jumps up from his chair, runs to Izuku and kisses him on stage as soon as the ‘victory’ screen pops up
They become famous as the Victory Couple
Their team wins several more World Championships and then I guess eventually they retire?
As you dread your upcoming awkward Thanksgiving dinners, remember it could be much worse. It’s so funny to watch Midoriya’s and Bakugou’s reactions as the Todoroki-family dinner turns into a trainwreck.
A war-cry! kind invitation that you cannot refuse. From your boss.
Challenge accepted by the unsuspecting recruits, and the one unenthusiastic insider who knows exactly what’s coming….
Honestly y’all, I really just don’t understand how Deku could ever have a relationship with anyone other than Bakugou. Like, this isn’t a ship thing, it’s really just a legitimate observation. I really, truly believe that if Bakugou’s hero name does end up being Kacchan, that’ll be the end for them. They wouldn’t be able to be with anyone else.
Take Ururaka, for example, since she’s the main love interest. Yes, she inspired Deku to take back his nickname, Deku inspires her to be a stronger hero, but compared to Bakugou? He created the nickname in the first place, and Deku’s been calling him Kacchan probably since he first learned to talk. Bakugou is his longest standing companion, Bakugou is the other half of the Wonder Duo, future number 2 hero and his partner based on the direction their development is going. Bakugou was the first person to find out about OfA from Izuku, and he was the person who helped Izuku learn to master it. Bakugou is his symbol of victory, Bakugou is his driving force for self improvement, I just feel like no spouse would ever be able to compete with the level of emotional depth that their relationship has.
Of course there’s always the “but they just arent gay” argument, and sure, they probably aren’t (this is a shonen manga after all), but if you were married to the number one hero, and all he did was fight villains all day with his childhood best friend, and their hero names are their childhood nicknames for eachother, and they’re completely in sync, wouldn’t you always be a little jealous? I feel like even if they never did date, no girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever could ever reach the level that bkdk’s friendship would have by that point.
They’re both doomed, honestly. No ship could ever be as good for them as bakudeku is.
